Please be advised that there will be a Norfolk Southern railroad rail gang that will be laying new rail in or near Shepherdstown beginning on or around Thursday, May 4. Below are milepost locations and dates (dates subject to change).
- HIGH STREET – SHEPHERDSTOWN – JEFFERSON COUNTY WV – MILEPOST 16.50 (5/1-5/3 and 5/8-5/9) NOTE: to start 5/3
- GERMAN STREET – SHEPHERDSTOWN – JEFFERSON COUNTY WV – MILEPOST 16.60 (5/1-5/3 and 5/8-5/9) NOTE: to start 5/3
- WASHINGTON STREET – SHEPHERDSTOWN – JEFFERSON COUNTY WV – MILEPOST 16.80 (5/1-5/3 and 5/8-5/9) NOTE: to start 5/3
- MORGAN DRIVE ROAD – JEFFERSON COUNTY WV – MILEPOST 17.80 (5/1-5/3 and 5/8-5/9) NOTE: to start 5/3
It is reported from the Norfolk Southern Railroad, that these roads will be closed twice. The first time will be by the rail gang who is responsible for laying new rail through the crossing. The second time will be when the surfacing gang comes through to pave the crossings.
The crossings in town will not all be closed at the same time. Normal hours of operation for the gang is between 7AM to 5PM. The railroad will attempt to have crossings open for traffic during the overnight hours unless it is impossible, again depending on the work involved with each specific crossing. Please keep in mind the schedule is subject to change.
