The Shepherdstown Water Department is accepting applications for the position of “Operator In Training” at the Water Plant. Duties include, but are not limited to, laboratory testing, sampling, maintenance, general cleaning of the water plant, mowing, record-keeping, etc.  High School diploma or GED is required. Applicant will be required to attend classes and attain a WV Drinking Water Treatment license as well as other certifications as necessary. Active licensed operators should not apply. Attendance at a technical school, trade school or college will be given preference. Computer skills are also needed. There will be no set schedule for this position. NOTICE OF CANDIDATE FILING PERIOD FOR THE

CORPORATION OF SHEPHERDSTOWN MUNICIPAL GENERAL ELECTION

 

The Corporation of Shepherdstown will hold a General Election on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 to fill two year terms of Mayor, Recorder and five Council Members.  All candidates must file a notarized certificate of announcement.  Filing will begin on Monday, March 7, 2016 and ends close of business on Friday, March 18, 2016.  The certificate of announcement can be picked up at the Shepherdstown Town Hall, 104 North King Street or printed from the Town’s website www.shepherdstown.us and must be returned to Town Hall by hand delivery or U. S. Postal Service, but must be postmarked by the U. S. Postal Service no later than midnight of the last day of filing. Candidates are subject to the eligibility requirements of a registered voter which are as follows:  must be a U.S. citizen, be a minimum of 18 years of age, be a resident of the municipality, and not be under conviction of a felony or other disqualification.  For more information contact the Town Clerk at 304-876-2398.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

CORPORATION OF SHEPHERDSTOWN

PROPOSED HOME RULE PLAN

 

 

A public hearing will be held on the Corporation of Shepherdstown’s proposed

Home Rule Plan pursuant to West Virginia § 8- 1-5a(g) at a special meeting of the Town Council

of the Corporation of Shepherdstown to be held on Tuesday the 23rd day of February, 2016, at

6:30 p.m., in the Council Chambers at the Shepherdstown Town Hall, 104 North King Street,

Shepherdstown, West Virginia, and at such hearing all objections and suggestions shall be heard

by the Council and it shall then take such actions as it shall deem proper concerning the

Corporation of Shepherdstown’s Home Rule Plan and any subsequent application to the West

Virginia Municipal Home Rule Board.

A copy of the Corporation of Shepherdstown’s Municipal Home Rule Plan is

available for review during business hours at the Shepherdstown Town Hall, 104 North King

Street, Shepherdstown, West Virginia.

Shepherdstown, WV - Effective Monday, February 1, Shepherdstown is introducing a new mobile app to make parking around town easier. Snow Removal Policy

The Corporation of Shepherdstown would like to remind property owners and renters of its policy regarding snow removal on sidewalks.

Section 11-407 Prohibited accumulation of snow, ice and debris on sidewalks and removal thereof by town at expense of property owners provides that…..

No person shall permit the accumulation of snow or ice upon the sidewalk adjacent to any property owned or occupied by him/her within the town, but shall remove the same within a reasonable time not later than 9:00 a.m.,  and 4:00 p.m.,  each day that snow or ice accumulates thereon.
