Historic Landmarks Commission Vacancy

The Corporation of Shepherdstown has a vacancy on its Historic Landmarks Commission.  This is a volunteer position.  Qualified candidates must reside within the corporate limits of Shepherdstown and demonstrate experience or education in history, architecture, planning, real estate or law.    

Water Board Vacancy

The Corporation of Shepherdstown has a vacancy on the Water Board.  This is a volunteer position. Qualified candidates must reside outside the corporate limits but within the water service area.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to:  prepares and implements annual budget, establish and approves operating and maintenance procedures, recommends revisions to water rate schedule, recommends additions or expansions to the water facility.

The Shepherdstown Water Department has scheduled its annual fire hydrant flushing program to begin April 15 through April 30.  During this time, customers may experience lower than normal pressures, as well as water that is cloudy in appearance. This should correct itself as we progress throughout the system. This is an important maintenance task that must be completed, we apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause to our customers. The Corporation of Shepherdstown is accepting applications for the position of Laborer I.  Duties include, but are not limited to, general labor duties as assigned such as garbage collection, mowing, street cleanup, assisting Water and Sanitary Departments as assigned.  High school diploma or equivalent is required.  CDL license required. Receptionist Vacancy

The Corporation of Shepherdstown is accepting applications to fill the full-time position of Receptionist at Town Hall. Work hours are Monday -Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with some extra coverage when required.  Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent and submit to a background check. This position requires professional and courteous interaction with the public and staff. General office experience is a must which includes but is not limited to, typing, answering phones, copying, accepting utility payments, etc. Town Hall can be fast paced, and multitasking is a must. A water leak has been discovered on Perth Way in the Heatherfield Subdivision. The Public Works Department is working to repair the leak. Customers in this area may experience reduced water pressure and/or cloudy water. If you experience cloudy water, please run your tap until it clears. The Corporation of Shepherdstown is accepting resumes for a Shepherdstown representative to fill an unexpired term on the Jefferson County Development Authority Board of Directors.  The term expires April 5, 2020.  To be eligible for appointment, candidates must reside within the corporate limits of Shepherdstown.  Resumes will be accepted until 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 2.  Resumes can be emailed to Amy Boyd, Town Clerk, at clerk@shepherdstown.us, sent via USPS or hand delivered to Shepherdstown Town Hall, 104 North King Street.    For further information, please call Amy Boyd at 304-876-2398.

The By-Laws of the Jefferson County Development Authority, Section 2. Appointment of Members, provide that the Jefferson County Commission shall appoint one member to represent the County Commission on the Authority board and, for each municipality located within the county, the
County Commission shall appoint one member to represent the municipality. The city and town Council of each municipality located within the county shall submit to the County Commission the  names of three persons, one of whom the County Commission shall appoint to be the municipality’s representative on the board. Other members of the board shall be appointed by the County Commission and shall include representatives of business, education, industry and labor. Other persons, firms, unincorporated associations, and corporations, who reside, maintain offices, or have economic interests, as the case may be, in Jefferson County, shall be eligible to participate in and to request the County Commission to appoint members to the Authority. Members can also be drawn from citizens of a county contiguous to Jefferson
County regardless of their state of residence. (W.Va. Code § 7-12-3 and § 7-12-4)
